Martin Scorsese's obsessed with mirrors: Here's the proof
Film has the power to hold a mirror up to society, but Martin Scorsese is just as interested in holding a mirror up to his characters.
Vimeo user Ali Shirazi has compiled the most memorable moments from the director’s body of work in which characters ponder what they’re doing with their lives, try to smack some sense into themselves, or simply check to make sure their hair is looking good.
The montage of course includes Robert DeNiro’s “You talking to me?” from Taxi Driver. There are also moments from Raging Bull, Bringing Out the Dead, and many more films.
But the winner of Scorsese’s mirror game may be Scorcese’s go-to man Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s tried to figure out the mysteries of Shutter Island, struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder as Howard Hughes, and dealt with the copious amount of drugs and alcohol ingests during The Wolf of Wall Street as Jordan Belfort.
