In The Originals‘ first hour back from hiatus, one thing was certain: Finn is done with his family. Using both his mother and his father as sources of power, he’s channeling them to torture, well, everyone else.

Determined to prove that vampires and werewolves can’t be allies, he first trapped the two species together at the compound. From there, he performed a spell that made the vampires as bloodthirsty as they’ve ever been. Thankfully, Davina and Kol were able to separate the two species, but now, Marcel is left with a group of suffering vamps on his hands (and a human Kol hiding in his room). So what’s a guy to do?

In an exclusive first look at Monday’s episode, Marcel flashes back to his days as a soldier in WWI in order to channel the leadership skills he’s going to need in the present day. “It’s a very well crafted storyline that parallels Marcel’s present day situation (being trapped in the compound),” Charles Michael Davis said. “We’ll get to see the birth of Marcel as a leader trough flashbacks. And we’ll see how he uses those skills in the present.”

Speaking specifically about the flashback, Davis noted, “That day on location was filled with focus and energy. The detail and authenticity added to every performance and I think the audience will feel it.”

As for everyone else: Finn is still working his magic, somehow finding a way to trap Klaus and Elijah while Davina works to free Kol.
