No more fake outs, TVD fans. The Vampire Diaries has cast the role of Sarah Salvatore—for real this time.

Tristin Mays (The Wedding Ringer) will first appear in The CW drama as the (real) daughter of Zach Salvatore, Damon and Stefan’s distant nephew, on Jan. 22. The show had previously introduced a faux Sarah who was actually an old friend of Sarah’s.

Mays’ character is described as “a bright and gifted student of photography” whose life is turned upside down as she unravels the mystery of her true family history.

The Vampire Diaries was recently renewed for a seventh season.
