Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel are set to star in Lion based on the book A Long Way Home, a true story about a boy who sets out on a 20-year journey to find his family. The epic spans from India to Australia, with filming scheduled to begin this week.

Lion follows Saroo Brierley, the author of A Long Way Home, who was separated from his family on a train in India at the age of five, and survived several weeks on the streets of Kolkata. He was put into an orphanage and then adopted by a couple in Australia. Years later, he would use Google Earth and his faint memory to find his way back to the home he grew determined to find.

Top of the Lake director Garth Davis has been pegged as director, while the Weinstein Company will distribute here in the U.S. No word yet on the exact release date of the film.

Watch Brierley talk about his experience with 60 Minutes, finding himself too far from home, and what he feels was really watching over him.
