Vanessa Hudgens will make her Broadway debut in the new adaptation of Gigi this spring. The production, which begins its pre-Broadway engagement in Washington, D.C. this weekend, will begin previews March 19 and is set to open April 8.

Hudgens stars as the titular character, played in the Oscar-winning film by Leslie Caron, in Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s musical adaptation of Colette’s novella. Heidi Thomas of Call the Midwife adapted the book for the production. “I think she brings freshness and innocence, and, as I said before, sensitivity,” Thomas said of Hudgens in an interview with EW last year.

Hudgens is joined in the cast by Tony winner Victoria Clark as Mamita, Corey Cott as Gaston Lachaille, and Howard McGillin as Honoré Lachaille.

Gigi will play at the Neil Simon Theatre.
