'Unfriended' trailer proves the Internet may kill you
If you’re under the impression that the Internet cannot single-handedly turn you into a self-centered monster, force you to be eaten alive by a blender, and altogether ruin your life, you obviously haven’t seen the trailer for Unfriended.
It’s a horror film for everyone who can’t remember life before Facebook, with an I Know What You Did Last Summer meets Pretty Little Liars plot that picks up a year after a teenager named Laura Barns committed suicide when an embarrassing video of her went viral. The trailer teases that “revenge comes online” as Laura seems to be back to haunt her bullies. It has a found-footage style for millenials, as most of the haunting takes place in a video chat among six friends.
Directed by Levan Gabriadze and written by Nelson Greaves, the film stars Teen Wolf‘s Shelley Hennig, Renee Olstead (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Courtney Halverson, Matthew Bohrer, and Cal Barnes.
Unfriended will be released on April 17.
