'Jane the Virgin' creator gives an update on Jane's virginity
Jane the Virgin is an attention-grabbing show title, for sure, but more than that, it suggests a lot about the show’s content.
Jane’s virginity, and its preservation, is at the center of the show. Eventually, though, Jane will have sex, so the question is: When will Jane be a virgin no more?
“The plan right now is for Jane to have sex when she gets married,” Jennie Snyder Urman, the show’s creator and executive producer, said while speaking at CBS Television Studios’ Studio Day. “That’s the plan. That’s important to her. That’s not something that we’re going to throw away.”
But, that’s not to say it won’t be an interesting ride, or that there won’t be challenges along the way. “We’ve all seen that just because she’s a virgin, she’s not prude. She’s an interesting, fun person and this is something that’s important to her, that she’s going to hold onto. Not that it isn’t going to be tested at various moments, but that’s the plan.”
When it does happen, though, Urman already has a show title in mind: Jane
