Golden Globes: George Clooney calls Tina, Amy 'best hosts of the show'
George Clooney is often the butt of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s jokes, but the recipient of this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award doesn’t mind: “I’m sorry they’re not going to [host] again,” he said backstage at the Golden Globes. “They’re really, truly funny.”
Last year, Fey brought up Clooney’s tendency to date younger women by calling Gravity “the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.” Clooney, who’s no longer a bachelor—he married Amal Alamuddin in September—called that “the best joke.”
Fey again made a friendly swipe at Clooney during this year’s monologue when she listed all of Alamuddin’s worldly accomplishments, including advising Kofi Annan regarding Syria and working on the Enron case—and then said, “So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.”
“I didn’t even think that was a joke,” Clooney said backstage. “Tina and Amy kill me. They’re the best hosts of the show.”
