Fox sets release dates for 'Gambit,' 'Assassin's Creed,' more films
20th Century Fox has planted its flag on dates for a number of major releases, securing spots for the solo Gambit film starring Channing Tatum, as well as sequels to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Fantastic Four.
Gambit will hit theaters on Oct. 7, 2016, marking the third X-Men film to release that year. X-Men: Apocalypse, the follow-up to last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, will release on May 27, 2016, while Deadpool is expected to debut sometime in February.
Fox also shifted the date for its Fantastic Four sequel, ahead of the first film in the rebooted franchise debuting this summer. The second film about the Marvel team will release on June 2, 2017. The next Planet of the Apes film has been pushed from its 2016 release by almost a year and will now debut on July 14, 2017.
Meanwhile, the Michael Fassbender-produced Assassin’s Creed is now scheduled to release on Dec. 21, 2016.
Fox also set up dates for the Hugh Jackman-starring musical The Greatest Showman on Earth, Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, and The Mountain Between Us. Showman will debut on Dec. 25, 2016; Dates will take the previous Apes date and release on July 29, 2016; Mountain, which stars Charlie Hunnam, will arrive in theaters on Feb. 10, 2017.
