The Neptunes’ N.E.R.D. project has been on hold since their 2010 album Nothing came and went without making much of an impact. But the 2015 pop world is a much different place from what it was in 2010—especially when it comes to Pharrell Williams, who spent much of the time in between undertaking one of the more spectacular comebacks in recent memory.

One of his biggest moves in that comeback was writing “Happy” for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack and conquering radio for months straight in the process. He seems to be looking to repeat that feat with a new track by the recently reconvened N.E.R.D. for the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Spongebob: Sponge Out of Water. “Squeeze Me,” with its dashes of vintage calypso and lyrics about being a sponge, sounds a little more like something written for a cartoon than “Happy” did, but Pharrell is still on a hot streak and his bandmates seem similarly reinvigorated, so it manages to transcend its novelty aspects and actually goes kind of hard.

“Squeeze Me” is now available on iTunes and Spotify.
