HBO renews 'Girls' for fifth season

Before its fourth season even kicks off, HBO has given the go-ahead to a fifth season of Girls.

The announcement came at the show’s premiere party on Monday night in New York City. Lena Dunham and executive producer Jenni Konner will start work tomorrow.

“No one has seen them, but they exist,” Dunham said of the first two scripts for season five.

Girls returns for its fourth season on Jan. 11, and while HBO and the show’s creators are planning ahead, it seems the characters aren’t following suit.
