Kathie Lee Gifford, noted morning-show wino and Broadway lyricist, has given the world what it didn’t know it needed: a Today show musical. This morning, the Today show debuted TODAY: The Musical, a song-and-dance extravaganza featuring the Today cast and crew.

In case you were eager for Matt Lauer and Al Roker to sing arias, temper your expectations. The show’s stars aren’t the main focus of the 14-minute musical. Instead, it stars stagehand Sal Cacciato as a props guy with big dreams. Sal gets some help achieving his goals from Gifford’s old cohort Regis Philbin, who is as Regis-y as you could hope. He speaks in the third person and sings a duet with Sal about how there are “no buts about it.”
