James Norton joins 'War and Peace' miniseries
English actor James Norton, known for starring in U.K. dramas like Grantchester and Happy Valley, is set to join the BBC miniseries War and Peace based on Leo Tolstoy’s novel of the same name.
Paul Dano and Downton Abbey’s Lily James will also star in the six-part drama, which will be distributed by both the Weinstein Company and BBC America. Andrew Davies, who wrote Bridget Jones’s Diary, is penning the series.
Tolstoy published War and Peace in 1869, a few years before he started releasing installments of Anna Karenina in 1873. The novel comes in at over 1,000 pages and details how historical events, including the French invasion of Russia, affected a select five Russian families.
The series will be filmed in Russia, Lithuania, and Latvia beginning in January.
