Judy Blume has revealed some details of her latest novel, and while the book is aimed at adults, the new work will pull from the author’s own childhood.

Publisher Alfred P. Knopf announced on Dec. 15 that Blume’s next novel, In the Unlikely Event, will arrive on June 2, 2015.

Blume drew inspiration from her own life for the story of Event, basing the story on a number of airplane crashes in Elizabeth, New Jersey in a three-month period between 1951 and 1952. Blume remembers the crashes, which occurred when she was a teenager living in the state, and draws on her memories in her new novel to tell a generational family drama.

Event will follow three generations of families, friends, and even strangers whose lives are dramatically altered by these events. Blume will trace how those affected both directly and indirectly by the crashes cope with loss, love, and a number of other family issues.

Blume’s novel will be her first book aimed at adults since 1998’s Summer Sisters and is currently available for pre-order.
