David Oyelowo, currently winning acclaim for his performance as Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, will appear opposite Lupita Nyong’o in Americanah, Variety reports.

Nyong’o is producing and starring in the adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel, which follows a couple, Ifemelu and Obinze, as they face different paths upon leaving their homeland of Nigeria. The book won the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction in 2013.

Plan B, Brad Pitt’s company, which produced Nyong’o’s 12 Years a Slave and Oyelowo’s Selma, is also producing. According to Variety, the film is now looking for a writer and director.

EW‘s calls to Plan B and a representative for Oyelowo were not immediately returned.
