Fresh Off the Boat has tapped 30 Rock alum Judah Friedlander and former NBA star Scottie Pippen for guest-starring roles, EW has learned exclusively.

ABC’s new ’90s-set comedy tells the story of a hip-hop-loving kid, Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang), being raised by his immigrant parents in Orlando, Fla., where his father (Randall Park) has pursued the America dream of opening a Western-themed restaurant and his mother (Constance Wu) struggles to adjust to American customs.

Friedlander will play Ray, a cool new counselor at school with a ponytail and leather jacket. Both non-judgmental and the kind of guy who talks about feelings (a lot), Ray urges Eddie to channel his hustle into something more constructive, like running for student council.

In that same episode, Pippen will play himself. As a favor to his accountant’s son Trent (Trevor Larcom), Scottie visits Eddie’s school to help Trent win the student council election—but becomes engrossed in Eddie’s campaign vision. He winds up giving Eddie’s dad tax advice and entertains the Huang family, who in his opinion are ungrateful for his kindness.

Fresh Off the Boat will premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET and 9:30 p.m. ET before moving to its regular timeslot on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
