Monday morning, Time Magazine editor Nancy Gibbs went on the Today Show to reveal the shortlist of people currently being considered for Time‘s Person of the Year 2014 title. For reference, last year’s Person of the Year was Pope Francis. The year before that? Barack Obama.

This year’s list has been narrowed down to eight names: Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc.; pop sensation Taylor Swift; Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL; Vladimir Putin, President of Russia; the Ebola caregivers; the Ferguson protestors; Masoud Barzani, President of Iraqi Kurdistan; and Jack Ma, the founder of the Alibaba Group.

Now, which of these things is not like the others?
