• Edgar Ramirez is in final talks for Joy. David O. Russell is directing the biopic, which also stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro. The film is based on the true story of Joy Mangano (Lawrence), the inventor/entrepreneur behind the Miracle Mop. De Niro will play Mangano’s father, with Ramirez as her then husband, Tony. Annie Mumolo wrote the script for the film. [THR]

• Natalie Portman has left discussions for the female lead in Universal’s Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs. Danny Boyle isdirecting the film. Aaron Sorkin adapted Walter Isaacson‘s biography for the screen. It stars Michael Fassbender as the titular character with Seth Rogen as Steven Wozniak. No reason was given as to why Portman passed, but other actresses are currently meeting for the part. Fast & Furious 6‘s Gina Carano has signed on for the Kickboxer remake. The cast also includes Dave Bautista, Alain Moussi, Georges St. Pierre, Sara Malakul Lane, and original star Jean-Claude Van Damme. The story follows Kurt Sloane (Moussi), a man who travels to Thailand and learns to kickbox in order to take on his brother’s killer, Tong Po (Bautista). Carano takes the role of a fight promoter.
