At its best, Dancing with the Stars has a sort of manic energy to its performances—even when the celebrities aren’t the best dancers, the choice of theme or music can still be fun. Last night, Sadie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame danced with partner Mark Ballas to a Super Mario Bros. medley, one of the most famous and recognizable suites of video game music ever made.

It was pretty weird.

To the producers’ credit, everything about the set is kind of wonderful—the costumes, the pipes, the recognition of how awesomely funky the Super Mario theme is—but something about the actual performance is really strange. Maybe it’s because the Super Mario theme isn’t so easily dance-able as, say, Guile’s Theme from Street Fighter II.
