George Eads will be saying goodbye to CSI for good, EW has confirmed.

The last original cast member, who plays Nick Stokes on the CBS procedural, is set to exit the series at the end of Season 15. As first reported by, Stokes’ exit will be connected to the Gig Harbor Killer case, but it’s unclear whether that means he’ll become another casualty.

Last year, Eads took a brief hiatus from the long-running series after reportedly getting into a heated exchange with a writer on the series. In 2004, Eads and his co-star Jorja Fox were briefly fired after a contract dispute with CBS over their salaries.

The future of the series is also in flux after the show’s current season was trimmed from 22 to 18 episodes.

CSI airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
