Nerds, cosplayers, and nostalgists rejoice: The gothy retailer Hot Topic is making your skivvy dreams come true. The chain has resurrected Underoos, the matching top and underwear sets printed with comic- book-hero costumes, which were de rigueur for kids who grew up in the ’70s and ’80s. This time, they’re in adult sizes ($25 a set), for those who’d rather kick back with a cocktail than a juice box. Cindy Levitt, the company’s SVP of merchandise, says they’re barely able to keep up with the demand for designs based on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Unsurprisingly, many buyers are older than the store’s typical teen customers. ”Nostalgia for the older characters seems to be driving most of the sales,” she says. And in 2015, the brand will make even more dreams come true with Star Wars Underoos. May the Force be on you.
