'Game of Thrones' video game will feature HBO cast, new characters
While Telltale Games’ Game of Thrones video game will focus on an entirely new house of Westeros—one not glimpsed in HBO’s hit—a few familiar and fresh faces will be popping up on the new adventure.
As revealed today, several Game of Thrones actors have lent their likenesses and voice talents to the upcoming episodic game based on the television show.
Among the castmembers set to appear in the game are Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, and Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Snow. More unannounced members of HBO’s cast are expected to show up over the course of the game’s six episodes.
But the real stars of Telltale’s series are the members of House Forrester, a house mentioned in George R.R. Martin’s books but that has yet to appear in HBO’s adaptation. The game will place players in control of five characters either directly related to or in service of the house.
EW can exclusively reveal one of the members of House Forrester who will be appearing in the game: Rodrik Forrester. Rodrik is the eldest son of Lord Forrester; he was trained from a young age to take on the burden of leadership.
He’s a man built for the position, a formidable presence both on and off the battlefield—but when Robb Stark called his banners to war, Rodrik was asked by his father to stay and protect their home, Ironrath.
Rodrik refused, riding out into battle with his father and leading the Forrester army into battle with such force that he is now feared among the Lannister soldiers. (That’d explain Cersei and Tyrion’s presence in the game.)
Rodrik is one of 13 Forresters who will pop up in the game, which is set to explore a time period in the show that lasts from the end of the third season up to the beginning of the upcoming fifth season. Telltale’s Game of Thrones video game doesn’t yet have a release date, but its first episode, “Iron from Ice,” is coming soon. Hopefully it doesn’t take as long as winter to show up.
