The Culture Club reunion tour has come to a halt after Boy George discovered a polyp in his throat that may require surgery.

According to a press release, the band announced in a statement, “It is with great regret that the members of Culture Club have announced the cancellation of their tours in North America and the UK scheduled for November and December 2014.”

The band also added, “We are hoping we can reschedule the concerts for next year, and hopefully George’s problem will be resolved.”

According to Boy George’s Facebook page, a throat specialist advised him that to continue singing with the polyp would cause “irreparable damage.”Boy George also said in a statement, “To say I am devastated barely touches how I feel. I know that those of you who love and support me will understand that this is a decision I just had to make.”

The band would have embarked on their U.S. tour on Nov. 15 in Rancho Mirage, California, and would be the band’s first reunion with all four band members—Boy George, Mikey Craig, Roy Hay, and Jon Moss—since their 20th anniversary reunion at the Royal Albert Hall in 2002.
