Daniel Bruhl joins 'Captain America 3'
He starred opposite Thor in last year’s Rush, and now Daniel Brühl is taking on Captain America. Marvel Studios officially announced that they have hired the actor for a role in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Brühl is probably best known for his role as creepy-yet-charming Frederick Zoller in Inglourious Basterds. Now, he joins a cast that already includes three different superheroes: Chris Evans’ Cap, Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, and newcomer Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther.
Marvel didn’t say what character Brühl will be playing, although Mike Fleming at Deadline claims he’s playing a villainous character. Since Brühl is German, the most obvious character from the Cap rogues gallery is Baron Zemo, the purple-masked uber-fascist mad scientist. If Civil War follows the original comic book story arc closely, it’s also possible that Brühl is playing Dr. Faustus, a nefarious psychiatrist. (He’s cooler than he sounds.) He’s probably not playing MODOK, since MODOK is a giant evil head with tiny arms and legs.
