• Anna Kendrick is in early negotiations for The Accountant, which stars Ben Affleck. Gavin O’Connor will direct the assassin thriller, which Whiplash’s J.K. Simmons is also in talks for. The film follows a man who is an accountant by day, lethal assassin by night. Kendrick’s role is unknown at this time. Bill Dubuque wrote the script. Production kicks off in January. [Variety]

• The Social Network’s Armie Hammer has signed on for The Birth Of A Nation. The film tells the story of Nat Turner, an African-American slave who became a revolutionary, and headed the Virginia insurrection. The rebellion freed slaves across various plantations; 60 white men, women, and children died in the process. Turner was eventually hanged, but his legacy remained. Hammer will play Samuel Turner, the son of Nat’s first master, Benjamin Turner. Nate Parker will star alongside Hammer, and will also make his directorial debut with the film. [Deadline]

• Mad Men’s Linda Cardellini has been cast in Daddy’s Home. Sean Anders is directing the comedy, which stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. The story follows a radio executive (Ferrell) who wants to be the best stepdad to his wife’s two children. His plans, however, go awry when their real father (Wahlberg) returns. Cardellini will play the wife of Ferrell’s character. Brian Burns wrote the script, which was revised by Anders, John Morris, Chris Henchy, Adam McKay, and Etan Cohen. Ferrell, Henchy, and McKay are producing through their Gary Sanchez Productions banner along with Morris. [THR]
