Last Week Tonight called in a few friends for its final episode of the year, uniting all of television, and a few film stars, under one idea all audiences can enjoy—celebrities being hit in the face by salmon.

Highlighting a video about a salmon cannon, John Oliver and the Last Week Tonight crew decided to build their own fish-throwing device, as any responsible late-night host would do. Oliver decided to test the cannon’s reach out on the show, and who better to be a test case than his former boss, Jon Stewart?

But Oliver didn’t stop there. Instead, he shot dozens of fish, crossing television network lines to slap everyone from Wanda Sykes on Showtime to Joel McHale on E! in the face.

Almost no one host is safe from a whiff of salmon, and even J.J. Abrams and poor R2-D2 are in the line of fire. Oliver has been calling in big names for great guest spots since his first episode, but this finale segment may just take the cake. Or the, you know, fish.
