After a fierce bidding battle, Oliver Stone’s film about Edward Snowden has landed at Open Road Films, EW has confirmed.

As Deadline first reported, Open Road has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the film, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the NSA whistleblower, while Wild Bunch nabbed the international rights. The film will tell the story of the former U.S. intelligence analyst who fled to Russia after leaking classified documents and is based on Time of the Octopus, by Snowden’s lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena.

The untitled film is currently in pre-production.
