From pegacorns to Cheetos: The best celebrity Halloween costumes
Here’s a fact: celebrities, with their access to talented makeup artists and costumers, have the best Halloween costumes. (Except when they don’t.)
Though Frozen‘s Elsa may be the dominant Halloween costume among children this year, celebs went for the obscure with pop stars dressing up as the likes of pegacorns and Cheetos. Stay tuned throughout the day as we update with more.
Meredith Vieira and Ellen DeGeneres, both Amal Alamuddin
Both daytime hosts decided to be Alamuddin, the woman George Clooney married.
North West, skunk
Kim and Kanye’s spawn as a super adorable skunk.
Liv Tyler, bun in the oven
She’s pregnant…get it?
Beyoncé, Janet Jackson
Beyonce, naturally, is flawless on Halloween dressed as an icon that came before her. (You can see Beyoncé praise Janet in this video compilation.)
Bonus: Blue Ivy as Michael Jackson.
Taylor Swift, Pegacorn
Swift’s costume is a hybrid of a unicorn and a pegasus, and also a reference to her appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s “Ew!” She captioned her Instagram “Cause, darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a PEGACORN. #HappyHalloween!” Everything comes full circle with Swift.
Also, this costume begs another question: Taylor Swift, really into furries
Katy Perry, Cheeto
Perry, likely the target of Swift’s “Bad Blood,” dressed as a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto, in a costume that makes us immediately want to wipe our hands on a napkin. Her caption? “IDFWU *drops mic*” More subtle social media shaming of Swift? The pairing of their costumes is quite striking, as Vox‘s Kelsey McKinney pointed out.
Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn, Sons of Anarchy
Hudson and her mom Hawn riffed on the biker theme for a Sons of Anarchy-themed party.
Kelly Osbourne, Magenta Osbourne captioned her Instagram with “#BestabirthdaypartyEver,” so perhaps this wasn’t for Halloween, but a spot-on Rocky Horror show costume deserves props.
Chris Colfer, Grumpy Cat
Colfer’s take on the famous cat only could have been better if it were on Aubrey Plaza.
Colton Haynes, Princess Fiona
Winner for most elaborate and most random reference from 13 years ago goes to Colton Haynes.
Lucy Hale, Twitter bird
The Pretty Little Liars star really embraced social media.
