WEtv cancels its first scripted show
Launching a scripted show is tougher than it looks: WEtv has canceled its first drama series, The Divide, after one season. The legal drama ran for eight episodes and starred Marin Ireland and Damon Gupton.
The network said in a statement: “We are extremely proud of The Divide and grateful to its brilliant creators, Richard LaGravenese and Tony Goldwyn, and an amazing cast and crew, for bringing this story to life as WEtv’s first scripted series.”
More and more cable networks are getting into scripted programming. Bravo, E!, WGN, Pivot, and even Animal Planet have all either recently launched, or are readying to launch, their first scripted shows.
