Taylor Swift's 'Welcome to New York' proceeds are going NYC public schools
No matter whether you think Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York” is a good representation of the city, she is using it to genuinely help her newly adopted home. Newly appointed New York City “welcome ambassador” Swift announced on The View, that all of the proceeds from sales of the song will go to public schools in the city.
“It’s selling really, really well, which is good, because I’m donating all of my proceeds to New York City public schools,” Swift told the hosts on The View, including Rosie Perez, who had asked Swift about moving to Perez’s hometown. Perhaps Swift should have asked Perez for a few more helpful tips to pass along to New York visitors. (Or for a few dance pointers—while Swift may be able to shake it off, Perez’s dance moves are unparalleled.)
