Star Wars characters are as iconic for their looks as they are for their personalities, and a new book highlights some of the most gorgeous costume work from the original trilogy.

In Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy, Brandon Alinger has compiled an exhaustive history of every major costume from the first three Star Wars films-—first produced, not first in the franchise’s timeline, of course. And to celebrate the book, which was released on Tuesday, a new trailer highlights some of the designs and photography included in the book.

Just in time for Halloween, marvel at how your costumes may never live up to the real thing, and see a few samples of what the book has to offer in EW‘s gallery of some of the franchise’s most famous wardrobe options.
