Latest 'Paddington' trailer actually explains what the movie's about
The trailers for Paddington have showcased the adorable little bear for which the movie’s named, but they haven’t actually described much of what the movie’s about. Until now.
The first teaser simply heralded the arrival of Paddington, while the next trailer demonstrated his inability to use a human bathroom properly. The latest trailer from StudioCanal’s upcoming adaptation, however, details why exactly Paddington finds himself actually needing to use that bathroom.
When the Brown family stumbles upon Paddington, they decide to name, feed, and take him in for the night. The film isn’t just about the wacky misadventures of domesticating a talking bear, though—Nicole Kidman’s Millicent is chasing after Paddington. She hopes to capture and display the peculiar bear in a glass case, having long chased after him in what can only be the strangest love story of all time. Or perhaps she simply has some personal connection to Paddington the trailer does not want to spoil.
Paddington is also unfortunately distrusted by the Browns’ neighbor, played by Peter Capaldi; he also must contend with escalators and apparently develops a bit of a marmalade addiction.
Audiences can find out how Paddington, voiced by Ben Whishaw, deals with all of these and other troubles when the film arrives in theaters on Jan. 16, 2015.
