Last week, Rainn Wilson (The Office) announced that he would produce Hollywood and Vine, a scripted series about the showbiz adventures of a group of social media celebrities from Vine, the popular video-based network. On Monday, Wilson announced that the show’s cast would feature five of Vine’s top entertainers: Jerry Purpdrank, Lele Pons, Simone Shepherd, Christian DelGrosso and Curtis Lepore. However, Friday night, just five days later, Wilson announced that Lepore had been ousted.

“After much consideration, the decision was made with Curtis Lepore to mutually part ways on SoulPancake’s television project featuring Vine stars,” reads a statement on Wilson’s Facebook page. “We felt this was the best decision for everyone involved. We wish Curtis all the best in all his future endeavors.”

The decision to drop Lepore stems from fan outrage over Lepore’s involvement in a rape allegation involving former girlfriend Jessi Vazquez, which was settled out of court in a plea deal. Wilson acknowledged the backlash in an earlier post.
