Fire rages in this exclusive 'Downton Abbey' trailer

Secrets and fire are consuming the halls of Downton Abbey in this exclusive early trailer for the upcoming season documenting the further scandals of the Crawley family and their downstairs counterparts.

The usually nefarious Thomas looks to show some feats of bravery as a fire rages at Downton. Some of the other intrigue previewed: Edith still has to contend with the little matter of her secret baby; Jimmy is getting felt up by Lady Anstruther, a new character played by Anna Chancellor; Lady Mary opens up her door to Lord Gillingham; and, despite hints of heroism, Thomas seems up to his old tricks harassing the mysterious Miss Baxter for information.

The fifth season of the show premieres Jan. 4, 2015, on MASTERPIECE on PBS.
