Months after production began on the truly outrageous live-action adaptation of Jem and the Holograms, the film has been slotted for release by Universal Pictures.

Jem, which reimagines the 1980s cartoon in modern day, will debut in theaters on Oct. 23, 2015. The cast that includes Juliette Lewis and Aubrey Peeples as Jem, a teenage orphan with a rockstar alter ego.

The only other film currently slated to release on that date is The Conjuring 2. Jon M. Chu will direct the film, which includes Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, and Hayley Kiyoko as the other members of Jem’s band.
