Musician Isaiah “Ikey” Owens was found dead in his hotel room in Mexico on Tuesday. He was 38.

“It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah ‘Ikey’ Owens,” Third Man Records announced in a press release. “He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans.”

The cause of his death has not yet been determined. Owens was on tour playing keyboard with Jack White’s band, who have canceled their last two Lazaretto tour stops in Mexico out of solemnity and respect. A native of the Long Beach, Calif., music scene, Owens played for many bands over the course of his career, including The Mars Volta, DeFacto and his own band, Free Moral Agents. The talented keyboard player also collaborated on and produced records for a number of other indie bands.
