Where would Halloween season be without Edgar Allan Poe? Still positioned in October, of course, but with a much less creepy hold on the month.

This year’s most prominent Poe adaptation is Stonehearst Asylum, which stars Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Brendan Gleeson, Ben Kingsley, and Michael Caine, and arrives in cinemas Oct. 24. According to the official synopsis, this version of Poe’s short short story The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether concerns “a recent medical school grad who takes a position at a mental institution and soon finds himself taken with one of his colleagues, though he has no initial idea of a recent, horrifying staffing change.” Gadzooks.

Below, you can see both the trailer for Stonehearst Asylum and an exclusive clip from the film.
