'Joe Dirt 2' to become first ever made-for-digital sequel
Believe it or not, there’s more where Joe Dirt came from.
Sony’s Crackle, a streaming service, has announced that production will begin next month on Joe Dirt 2, which will effectively become the first ever made-for-digital sequel of a major motion picture. David Spade is set to return as Dirt. He will also co-write the film with Fred Wolf, who has signed on to direct.
“I’m beyond stoked that Joe Dirt will finally hit the screens again on Crackle,” David Spade said in a press release. “I’ve been sleeping in this wig for years and it will be nice to wear it in the daytime again.”
Joe Dirt 2, which is said to pick up where the first film left off, has a 2015 release date on all Crackle platforms.
