Reign‘s season-two premiere ended with Mary taking control of her kingdom by enlisting Nostradamus’ help in order to make Catherine believe she had the plague. And once Catherine was out of Mary’s way, Mary dealt with Edward Narcisse in her own way—she stuck him in a cell full of infected people.

But as fans of the show know, Nostradamus has been a longtime ally of Catherine’s, so what will this act of betrayal mean for the only man immune to the plague? It’s actually quite simple: death.

In an exclusive look at Thursday’s episode, Nostradamus is being held, awaiting the reading of his last rites when Catherine stops by to say her goodbye. And let’s just say she’s not exactly in a giving mood (unless promising him a statue in Paris is considered “giving”).

Reign airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on The CW.
