Barry Levinson to direct Jennifer Lopez's 'Shades of Blue'
Academy Award winner Barry Levinson is set to direct the pilot for Shades of Blue, a 13-episode NBC show with a straight-to-series order starring Jennifer Lopez.
According to a press release, Levinson, who will also executive produce, “will be hands-on and participate in the development process.” The show, written by Adi Hasak, follows a detective recruited to go undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force. McCord is also a single mother who has “become compromised by her colleagues — all of whom also pitch in to help her raise her daughter — and finds herself faced with the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.”
Hasak and Lopez are executive producers along with Ryan Seacrest and others. “It’s an exciting project to be working on with Jennifer,” Levinson said in a statement. “Adi has written a police drama that gets into the fascinating dirt behind law enforcement with a female character we haven’t really seen before.”
Levinson’s Al Pacino-starring film The Humbling will be released this year.
