The Angry Birds Movie‎

Sony Pictures Entertainment announced the upcoming Angry Birds film’s cast today, and it includes more than a dozen well-known comic actors and actresses.

Jason Sudeikis will play the leading role as the ill-tempered bird Red. Josh Gad also stars as the yellow-feathered Chuck, and Danny McBride rounds out the main trio as the big bird Bomb.

Bill Hader will voice one of the evil pigs (well, they’re “evil” depending on whether you side with the birds or the swine), while Maya Rudolph plays a character named Matilda and Peter Dinklage swoops in as Mighty Eagle.

The rest of the cast is rounded out by a number of comedians, including Cristela Alonzo, Jillian Bell, Ike Barinholtz, Danielle Brooks, Hannibal Buress, Tony Hale, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kate McKinnon. Grammy nominee Romeo Santos will also lend his voice to the film, as will Ian Andrew Hecox and Anthony Padilla, the stars of the YouTube channel Smosh.

The film won’t release until July 1, 2016, which gives the actors plenty of time to delve into the deep mythology of the bird/pig rivalry, which has already spawned 10 video games, two spin-off games, and an animated TV series.
