Chris Pratt stretched his improv skills ahead of his Saturday Night Live hosting duties this Saturday, Sept. 27 by appearing on The Tonight Show. And if his game of “Word Sneak” with Jimmy Fallon is any indication, Pratt is more than ready for any off-the-cuff moments Studio 8H might require of him.

In the game, Fallon and Pratt had to insert several words or phrases that likely wouldn’t pop up during a normal late night interview. Pratt imparts an old saying random advice about soul patches while Fallon makes the obvious comparison between Norm from Cheers and Patrick Ewing.

Pratt also took the time to explain the origins of his now infamous headshot. It’s best to leave it to Pratt’s own words, but the headshot’s suspicious beginnings proved more than worth it—Pratt claims the photo helped him land his first major role on Everwood.

It’s certainly a different look for Pratt from his time as Andy on Parks and Recreation, though it doesn’t quite compare to his change from his bohemian days on The O.C.
