James Franco is never lacking for work, from big-budget comedies to novel adaptations to poetry collections. One of his longest-gestating projects, however, now finally has a release date after years without a home.

Franco took to his Instagram yesterday to announce that his Saturday Night Live documentary, Saturday Night, will debut on Hulu this Friday, Sept. 26.

Franco shot the behind-the-scenes look at the production of an SNL episode back in 2008, when John Malkovich hosted the Dec. 6 episode. He shot the project as a graduate student at New York University, and debuted the film at the TriBeCa Film Festival in 2010. Ever since, even through Franco’s two stints hosting the show, the film had lived without distribution until Franco’s announcement yesterday.

This is not the first time Franco has used his Instagram to debut news, as he also announced his adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Rant on his account.
