Seth Rogen to star in Adam McKay-directed comedy from Ben Schwartz
Funny guys Seth Rogen, Adam McKay, and Ben Schwartz are teaming up for a new comedy. McKay and Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions, Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures, and Good Universe bought a pitch from Schwartz for Rogen to star in and McKay to direct. Schwartz, known for his work on television in Parks and Recreation and House of Lies, will also appear in the movie.
“Evan and Seth have been doing amazing things and we’re so excited to work with them,” McKay said in a statement. “Ben, not so much. Most of my problems with him are personal ones, but I have to give it up… he did come up with a great idea.”
No plot details were announced, but McKay and Rogen joining forces marks a merging of comedy worlds. “Every two thousand years the planets of our galaxy align in a perfect line that funnels the cosmic energies of the universe to flow into one perfect comedic collaboration. The time is now. This is that project. Nothing will ever be the same,” Rogen said.
Though Schwartz is easily identified by Parks and Rec fans as the obnoxious Jean-Ralphio, his clout in the film world is on the rise. He sold two pitches to Universal that Imagine Entertainment is producing, and his remake of Soapdish, El Fuego Caliente, was on the 2011 Black List for best unproduced screenplays.
