Update: Green’s twitter account is back.

CeeLo Green deleted his Twitter account following a series of series of controversial statements about rape, including the assertion that women can only be raped if they are conscious. In the tweets–which can now be read via screenshots—Green wrote that women who have “really been raped REMEMBER!!!” Green, a former coach on The Voice, also tweeted that if “someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent” and compared a rape to a home invasion.

Here, @CeeLoGreen puts the onus on rape victims to prove they were raped, describes women as objects, like a house.

On Friday, Green pleaded no contest to a felony charge that he had furnished Ecstasy to a woman when they were having dinner in 2012, the Associated Press reported. Though the woman to whom Green gave Ecstasy accused the singer of sexually assaulting her, telling investigators that she woke up naked in bed next to Green, prosecutors last year did not pursue a rape charge against Green on the grounds of insufficient evidence. Green’s lawyer maintained that sexual relations between Green and the woman were consensual.

Before deleting his account, Green tweeted an apology (via BuzzFeed):

Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.

I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it..

…was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I’d never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.

Representatives for Green did not immediately respond to EW‘s request for comment.
