Rachel Berry takes over the 'Glee' club in the final season
Glee won’t say farewell without an actual glee club. Though New Directions was shut down last season, the final year of the Fox dramedy will resurrect the club with a surprising new leader.
After failing to become a TV actress, Rachel will return to Lima in a bid to figure out what to do with her life, according to Fox. Once she discovers that Sue banished that arts at McKinley, Rachel will make it her goal to reinstate the club, which she’ll now lead.
What does this mean for Mr. Schue, who previously headed up the club? He, Blaine, and Sam will all have found surprising new gigs in Ohio.
As for the other glee club alums, Mercedes Jones will be back in a bigger capacity this season since Amber Riley is listed among the returning regulars, which also includes Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Dot-Marie Jones, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, and Chord Overstreet.
Conspicuously missing from the list is original castmember Jenna Ushkowitz, though Fox promises other alumni will return to McKinley throughout the season. Naya Rivera’s name is also missing, but that’s because she’s no longer a series regular. Don’t worry, she’s still expected to appear.
Glee‘s 13-episode final season will debut midseason.
