Ellen Pompeo developing police drama for ABC
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo is getting into the production side of things. First, Pompeo announced she would executive produce a financial meltdown drama titled Debt for ABC Family, and now, her production company, Calamity Jane, has made its first network sale.
Calamity Jane has sold an untitled hour-long drama to ABC. The project, written by Andy Stern, will be produced by ABC Studios with Pompeo and Laura Holstein of Calamity Jane Prods. signed on to executive produce.
The show follows Keira Burke, a Boston-area cop who was gravely wounded in the line of duty. According to ABC, “Six years later, she’s returned to the force as a police psychologist and now finds herself embedded in the very same precinct she left. She’ll bring along her new perspective on cops and solving crime, but she’s returning as an outsider, no longer a cop. Keira will have to reconcile her two worlds and overcome her own failings from years ago—even as she starts to suspect that what really happened all those years ago may not be what it seems, and the truth may be right under her nose.”
