Year In The Life Of Downton Abbey

Season 5 of Downton Abbey doesn’t premiere in the U.S. until Jan. 4, 2015, but on Oct. 28, St. Martin’s Press will whet Americans’ Downton appetites with A Year in the Life of Downton Abbey, the official tie-in book to the PBS Masterpiece series. A Year in the Life is written by Jessica Fellowes—the niece of Julian Fellowes, the show’s writer and creator.

The cover image (above) was shot on the season-5 set, and features several of the show’s familiar faces. “Writing A Year in the Life of Downton Abbey—my third book to accompany the show—was fascinating. We decided to look at each month of the year, investigating different themes in each, from farming to children and debutantes,” Jessica Fellowes said in an exclusive statement to EW. “I’ve woven together what has happened in episodes that chime with the seasons with research on great houses in 1924 and detail on how the production operates over the year. We’ve also made this book much more interactive with recipes, [parlor] games, and even instructions on how to curtsey. With beautiful photography and period detail in the design it’s a gorgeous book and I’m very proud and excited about it.”

A Year in the Life of Downton Abbey hits shelves Oct. 28, and features a foreword by Julian Fellowes.
