'The SpongeBob Movie' hits live-action shores
This appears to be one of those “write your own adventure” sort of stories.
Nickelodeon just released the trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, which will open next year—and is not to be confused with 2004’s The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. The big change this time around? It looks like SpongeBob’s going to be less animated, and a lot more live-action. (Or at least stop-motion.)
The sequel adds Antonio Banderas as Alameda Jack, a pirate captain intent on recovering the last page to his magical book. SpongeBob, of course, has that page, and when Alameda Jack attacks, he must go ashore to defend Bikini Bottom. To that end, SpongeBob‘s bringing all you expect from a sequel—more action, big explosions, and, well, more of Patrick being Patrick.
Sponge Out of Water debuts in theaters Feb. 13, 2015.
