Allison Williams to play Peter Pan in NBC's 'Peter Pan Live!'
Girls star Allison Williams, who briefly demonstrated her singing chops last season on the HBO comedy, has been cast as Peter Pan in NBC’s upcoming presentation of Peter Pan Live.
She’ll join previously announced star Christopher Walken as the elegant Captain Hook in the Dec. 4 telecast.
“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” said Williams in a press statement. “It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”
“We couldn’t be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan,” said NBC chief Robert Greenblatt. “She’s a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls—where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent—and we think she will bring the perfect blend of ‘boyish’ vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken’s powerful Captain Hook.”
Peter Pan Live—based on the original 1954 Broadway musical which includes songs such as “I’m Flying,” “I Won’t Grow Up,” and “Ugg-a-Wugg”—is NBC’s follow-up to its hugely successful 2013 telecast of The Sound of Music Live with Carrie Underwood, which brought in 18.6 million viewers last December.
With Walken and Williams on board, there are still plenty of juicy roles to cast for the live production, including Wendy Darling (and her brothers John and Michael), Tiger Lily, Smee, and everyone’s favorite human-in-a-dog-suit, Nana.
